The day before the show was the first talks that I heard of this concert. I had to double take when I noticed my twitter feed stating such a fact. Without hesitation, I considered my Friday at work to BLOOOOOOW! I was going to this concert no matter what. So I packed up my car (few beers to pregame) and took off after work Thursday. I met my buddy Ice at his place, drank a few brews, had another at a local pub and took a cab into Cambridge.

Admission to the concert was 18 smackaroos at the door. (I would have paid over 50 bucks for this.) I have never been to Middle East in downtown Cambridge, and I have to say it is a great venue! Upstairs and downstairs. Ice and I walked downstairs to the action and walked into Carousel in the midst of their set. We arrived a tad late and heard “Games” as our first song. The crowd in front was grooving as I was with the first step I took into the joint. Let me tell you, they sound exactly how they appear on the internet/radio/youtube/etc. High quality stuff!

Stood at the raised bar area off to the left for Carousel due to the traffic already in front of the stage for the first act. Once Carousel finished up, Ice and I persisted to get up front for Penguin Prison. We weaseled our way to a good spot right center about 3 to 4 heads back. (Not bad) Right away, Mr. Popper’s Penguins plays my favorite track, “The Worse It Gets.” Check out the clip below to see the last bit of the song. JAMMING. Thinking to myself…this is going to be a good night! Again, great voice, great electro sound….overall…GREATNESS! Hit after hit Penguin Prison produced. A second video below is a remix by Lana Del Ray’s “Blue Jeans.” This is full song…sorry if you can hear me belting out the lyrics…I couldn’t resist! Just be happy I was somewhat steady with the camera.

After PP we move on to Act 3. RAC….lets dance dance dance! That is all I could think or do when they were playing. It might have been from the excess booze or the fact that I had my boogie shoes on but I couldn’t stop! Below is about a 2 minute clip of what my phone recalled from RAC’s set. I would have taken more but I was a bit intoxicated and my feet would not stop moving to the beat. Drinking and listening to electro beats is such a feel good Summer high.

BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE!  To top you off of all the music that was the night of June 28th, we walk upstairs to the bar and find a group of musicians who go by the name of Cameron Galpin Quartet, having a jam sesh. Of course we stop and take a listen. Pretty buzzed I take a seat on the floor in front snapping a few photos and videos…see below. If you’re in the Boston area and happen to hear that Cameron Galpin Quartet is playing…ACT ON IT! These guys and gal rock some socks!

Overall, greatness…duhhh read the title! Don’t forget to check out the video clips below…Have a DubA filled weekend!
